Hector Gutierrez received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Texas A&M. As a cadet, Gutierrez was a member of Squadron 9 and the Ross Volunteers. He served as Corps Commander, was President of the University Honor Council and was an active member of Town Hall and the Student Conference on National Affairs.
Gutierrez served five years in the U.S. Air Force and 16 in the Reserves reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Before his retirement, he was the owner of Hector Gutierrez Consulting, a public relations and communications firm.
His 34-year career included tenures at El Paso Electric and Hillco Partners. Gutierrez also served as a Public Affairs Consultant for the City of El Paso, the El Paso Water Utilities Public Service Board, AT&T, Motorola, and the American Heart Association.
He has served as a member of the Board of Directors for both the Texas A&M University Press and The Association of Former Students. Gutierrez also served on the Corps of Cadets Development Council and the Development Foundation Board of the Texas A&M Health Science Center. He was a member of the Texas A&M Board of Visitors, the Bush School Advisory Board and was Founding Chairman of the Texas A&M Hispanic Network.
