Aggie Code of Honor
The Aggie Code of Honor is based on this doctrine which has been an unwritten law of Aggieland for many years: "An Aggie doesn't lie, cheat or steal or tolerate those who do." This statement is formalized in the following articles:
Article I: A Cadet will not knowingly make any false statements, written or spoken, on any situation reflecting upon Texas A&M University while acting in any capacity, official or otherwise, representing Texas A&M University.
Article II: A Cadet will not impart or receive any assistance, either outside or inside a classroom or places of instruction, which would tend to give any student unfair advantage.
Article III: A Cadet will not unlawfully take or receive any property of another person, or persons, under any circumstances without specific authority of that person or persons.
Article IV: A Cadet will not use evasive statements or technicalities in order to shield guilt or defeat the ends of justice.
Article V: A Cadet will report to the Chair of the Cadet Honor Board or the Major Unit Honor Representative any known or suspected honor violation by any Cadet or Cadets of which the Cadet has knowledge.
While the camaraderie among Aggies is legendary and frequently life-long, in no way is friendship ever justification to violate the tenants of the Aggie Code of Honor. Similarly, the Aggie Code of Honor is never to be understood as a code only adhered to among Aggies. Rather it is a code that all Aggies strive to live in all associations and activities for their whole lives, not just when among Aggie buddies.
